March 2020 Region 5 Report

Discussion started on Region 5

Region 5 Report - March 14, 2020

Clay County - monthly business meeting end of February addressed future committees and outreach to the more rural areas of Clay, as well as Keystone Heights and surrounding areas. Ken Willey's campaign for State House District 18, slated to kick off shortly in the next few months. Will work with him to schedule Q & A sessions and meet-and-greets. We had an unscheduled guest, with State Senate Democratic candidate Melina Rayna in attendance. We welcomed her to sit and speak during our open discussion, however it stymied our strategy conversation for LP candidates in our area. Will look to reconvene with our attendees next month to continue.

Duval County - business meeting and elections saw their current EC re-elected to their positions: DL Cummings, Chair; Ricardo Mejias, Vice Chair; Chris Smelick, Secretary; Joe Sokol, Treasurer. Awaiting finalized report from the Chair. *Will amend when received*

Baker County - looking to get head count for upcoming initial meetup in Macclenny. Date / time TBD.

Nassau County - no news to report

St John's County - David Salisbury has agreed to Chair the new affiliate in St John's County. Our first meeting to garner EC interest is Tuesday, March 24th at Gator's Dockside / Murabella (Saint Augustine). Hope to have this affiliation done as soon as possible.

With the cancellation of the Clay County Fair as well as Carrie Clarke Day in Orange Park, we have no upcoming events to report on.

This concludes my report.
